INAH McCLANNAHAN, age 92, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Longview Care Center. Inah was born February 25, 1917 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Paul and Minnia (Kohlman) Burkhart. Inah attended school in Missouri Valley and lived all of her life in the Harrison County area. She and her husband John McClannahan lived on the farm south of Mondamin where she had a large garden, raised chickens and turkeys, which she dressed and sold. She spent many hours sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her hands were never still. After her husband John passed away in 1972 she moved to Missouri Valley in 1973. Inah purchased an apartment house and worked for a few years at Wilkersonís in Fort Calhoun, and Missouri Valley Monument Company. Later she worked at the Rand Community Center where she met Vern Rodewald. They later married and had a great time fishing and just enjoyed their short time together. She loved to play bingo and still played at the Longview Home where she resided almost three years. She belonged to First Lutheran Church but in recent years attended Calvary Baptist Church with her family.
Survivors include her son: Jerry L. Cook and wife Pat of Missouri Valley, Iowa; grandsons: Dennis Cook and friend Lorry of Council Bluff, Iowa; Dale Cook and wife Lisa of Underwood, Iowa; Jerry Lee Cook and wife Kim of Missouri Valley, Iowa; sister: Marge Layton of Modale, Iowa; brothers: Harold Burkhart of Logan, Iowa; William Burkhart of Humbolt, Iowa; Joe Burkhart of Logan, Iowa; Alfred Burkhart of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Henry Burkhart of Rapid City, South Dakota; four stepchildren; eighteen step-grandhildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Inah was preceded in death by her parents, brother Carl Burkhart, husbands John McClannahan and Vern Rodewald, and great-grandson Alex Cook.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley.
The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Rand Community Center following the committal service at the cemetery.
